IFIP Global Community
Global Conferences and Regional Convenings
IFIP conferences and convenings are designed and structured to spark meaningful dialogue through transformative insights into Indigenous movements. Here, Indigenous leaders, IFIP members, and visionary grant makers gather to explore pressing issues in Indigenous philanthropy. From discussions on the pivotal role of Indigenous women in climate change to reimagining philanthropy through decolonization, these conferences offer invaluable opportunities for learning and collaboration.
Why It Matters
With 476 million Indigenous Peoples globally, representing 6.2% of the world’s population, it is imperative to recognize that this is a large population that has been grossly underfunded and underrepresented in spaces where philanthropic discussions for far too long. IFIP's conferences and conventions are designed to change this narrative not only as a strategic focus but also as a moral imperative. These gatherings are our way of walking the talk in the pursuit for an inclusive and transparent Indigenous funding model. Through dialogue, knowledge exchange, and action-oriented discussions, we take concrete steps towards ensuring that Indigenous communities receive the support and recognition they deserve.
What we are doing
Our driving force lies in shifting funding practices to promote transparency in Indigenous-led funding and deepening partnerships with Indigenous organizations. IFIP conferences serve as catalysts for developing this transformation, promoting meaningful dialogue and collaboration among Indigenous leaders, IFIP members, and funders. These gatherings play a pivotal role in advancing equity and inclusivity in philanthropy.
As part of our commitment to advancing Indigenous philanthropy and driving change, IFIP has organized over 14 conferences, including 4 on an international scale. Each event serves as a dynamic hub of innovation and collaboration, attracting a diverse community that has grown from 40 participants to over 300 at our latest gathering. Participants consistently commend our conferences as key moments that expand their perspectives and transform their approaches to their work.
